Description
Carpet beetles a commonly encountered in the areas where bedbug detection dogs search. Following reports from handlers that trained bedbug detection dogs were indicating on carpet beetles, we conducted a survey of certified bedbug detection dog teams and found that more than 40% of bedbug detection dogs also showed interest in carpet beetles.
Several species of carpet beetle exist, the most common of which is the varied carpet beetle (Anthrenus verbasci). We currently have a small culture available for use a distractors for bedbug detection dog training. Carpet beetles are supplied in pre-sealed ventilated tubes containing 6-8 beetle larvae with some raw wool for food/substrate.
